Quick little post with a few images and a video of a fashion show I shot at Willow Glen’s Garden Theater. This spring fashion show featured fashions from Bella James (beautiful women’s clothing) and Kool Kids Couture (super cute children’s clothing) and Kiss & Make-up (Rebecca and Richard are make-up experts). Monica’s Apt stylists did amazing hair! This is the second year I photographed this event and it always has such a great turnout – a really fun Sunday afternoon. Here are a few favorite images and the video… I am absolutely in love with the dress shown in the last image!!

We are very excited to announce the first in what might potentially be a series of limited edition mini sessions! In the spirit of Mother’s Day, our kick-off event will be a Mommy & Me series. Whether your children are 6 months old or 16 years old, this is a great opportunity!! I know… right now you are thinking “I need to lose 10 more pounds” or “I hate being in pictures” or “Why would I need to be in images with my kids?”. I think you know the answer to that – there is never a “perfect” time. Wouldn’t you have loved to have just one beautiful image of you and your mother? We promise to make you look beautiful and capture a great connection between you and your child. We can shoot a few solo images of the kids while we are at it, but the real idea is to create generational images. Bring your mother too! Nothing more beautiful than 3 generations in one image! We are also introducing a new line of frames for these sessions (shown in the image above) – they are really gorgeous and come in a variety of colors to match any decor. And guys, this makes a GREAT mother’s day gift, too!

What a wonderful day for ALP! This little beauty made our job so easy! We don’t have a single picture she doesn’t look cute in, which surely makes it even harder on her parents to pick their favorites but means we are doing our job well. We spent the afternoon in the studio then got to head outside just before sunset to capture some beautiful pictures in the fall settings all around the studio. We just loved working with this family, they are so humble and pleasant to be around! Thanks for letting us be a part of this special time in your lives Hillary & Brandon!

As a San Jose kid’s photographer we love getting to experiment with all kinds of different settings in this area for family portraits. We spent the afternoon in San Jose’s Rose Garden capturing this beautiful family at sunset and had a blast doing it! These kids were such little dolls. We can’t remember now who had the idea for Dad to throw his kids in the air but this led to some awesome shots and what we can assume was a pretty good workout for him too! See our favorites below!

As a photographer, every now and then you need to step outside of your box and shoot something totally different to get your creative juices flowing again! This past weekend I had that chance and had the pleasure of participating in a really special event that took place in San Jose called Retro POP! This event took place at the San Jose Women’s Club (which by the way was a really cool historic building in the Naglee Park neighborhood of San Jose which would be awesome for future fashion shows, weddings, theater events, etc.) – it was the perfect location for this 60s event. Studio Glam, Park Place Vintage and Time Zone Vintage did a spectacular job of stylizing the fashion show models in decade perfect hair, make-up, clothing and accessories. I felt like I stepped right into an episode of Mad Men (which happened to be season premiering the following day). It was a great retrospective on sixties fashion, music, and art. DJ Derek See spun 60s tunes during the show and bands The Inciters and The Champions both played lively retro sets.

We love working in our studio but we are so grateful and excited anytime we get to shoot outside of the studio. We didn’t have to go far with this family. We ended up finding the perfect set for them right outside of our studio and had so much photographing them in the beautiful fall leaves. After spending some time there we walked over to the train station, then finished up their session with a few studio shots. Another wonderful day for ALP.

As a Bay Area baby photographer, we see so many beautiful newborns but isn’t this little doll just the cutest thing! We love shooting newborns; so cute and cuddly. It is such a beautiful time for a family whether it’s baby #1 or in this case a sweet little addition. This is another family we have been photographing for quite some time now and we were so delighted when we got the news that baby #2 was here. We spent the morning shooting Momma, Baby, and Pooch “Booda” then were joined by big Sister and Daddy later in the afternoon for some family portraits. This is one lucky and very adored baby and we feel blessed to have been a part of welcoming this new baby into the world. Meet Marissa…and her peacock friend! Marissa is one of our favorite girls to shoot. We just love photographing this little beauty and if you have been to the studio this is evident! We have some of our favorite images of her displayed on a wall canvas as well as albums throughout the studio. We spent the day with Marissa and her parents at one of our favorite locations in the San Jose area. The weather was a bit chilly but gorgeous none the less. Marissa’s parents (Matt & Rosa) set up a little picnic at a nearby winery to keep entertained while we ventured off to photograph Marissa her in her own element…when we ran into this little guy. It was hard for all to keep focused after that but we were able to capture some beautiful images. See some of our favorites below. Rosa did an awesome job stylizing her family for this shoot, we couldn’t have done better ourselves. We are so thankful we got to spend the afternoon with this family. Not only are they good friends and clients but Rosa is a wonderful hairstylist. Maybe that’s why they were all looking so stylish! In fact, if you are ever looking for a hairstylist in the area Rosa works at a beautiful salon in Los Gatos called Parlour 308, and we can’t recommend her enough! skylar & aksel | san jose kid’s portraits

In 2007 we got the opportunity to photograph baby Skylar. Oh how time flies because here we are 5 years later photographing her baby brother, Aksel. We spent the day in the studio and had so much fun recreating some of the same images we took of Skylar as a baby. This really put a smile on mom’s face and took her back in time. Not to mention it also put quite the smile on Amy’s face seeing these mini Cub’s fans as she is from Chicago herself and does not see this too often in this area. We loved getting to spend the afternoon in the studio with these cuties. Studio sessions really allow us to be creative and capture a variety of images with different backgrounds, props, and clothing outfits. Too fun!
