Newborns
We love photographing newborns at Amy Lynden Photography! Newborn sessions are quite relaxed – as they should be! Mom and Dad can kick back while we do all the work! And to us, it’s not work. Capturing tiny faces, little fingers & toes, and the peacefulness that resides in every newborn. We will showcase all of your baby’s charm and sweet features.
Timing
Amy likes to photograph her little subjects around 6 days old. Babies older than two weeks of age do not curl up and are more awake. When they are still young, we can mold them into cute little balls as you see in the gallery on the site. Newborn acne and cholic tends to set in around 2 weeks, so it really is best to schedule early!
Booking
Think ahead! Do not wait until the last minute as we book our newborn sessions months in advance, so it is not too early to give us a call. Since it can be hard to predict when your baby will arrive, we reserve a general time frame for your session. If you have an induction or c-section date, then we can go ahead and pencil in an actual session date. We’ll expect a call from you as soon as your little one arrives.
Investment
Weekday In-Studio Session Fee starts at $200 and On-Location sessions are $250. Session fee is for time and talent only. Prints, framed images, birth announcements, and canvases are available for purchase separately. Please contact us using the Contact page or call the studio. Make sure to indicate your due date (or baby’s birth date), telephone number and location.
The Session
Most of our clients bring their babies to the studio where the light is consistent and all the props and things we need are within reach. That said, we can do on location sessions as well, finding beautiful light in the comfort of the clients home. We never rush a newborn session, and they typically last 3 hours. We allow plenty of time for feedings, soothing and a variety of poses.
Order Session
At your session or when you book your session, we will set up an Order Session approximately two weeks after your session. All decision makers should be present, and it’s OK to bring your little newborn along, however please note that older children will get bored and it’s usually best to find someone to look after them. We will watch a projected slideshow and walk you through the order process.
