There are some photographers that are 100% in studio or 100% on location. I believe that every person is different and I am open to doing either – or both! Take a look at our studio and location galleries to help you decide your session preference. If you’d like, we can start in my studio and then head outdoors to a variety of locations. You might be surprised by some of my ideas. A lot of people immediately think to go to a park or natural setting. While that can be nice, it’s a lot more fun to experiment and find some really interesting locations. I have scouted the Bay Area and found some pretty cool places. And I’m always open to new ideas! That said, the focus is on you, not the background. I have done beautiful sessions in many backyards, or simply walking through downtown or urban areas.

What is a typical session like?

Senior photo sessions are a lot of fun! You can ask any of my prior clients or reps, and they will all tell you it was like being a model for a day! Prior to your session, we’ll have a phone or in-person consultation to discuss clothing, locations, and your ideas for the session. I’ll try to learn as much about you as possible so that I can best capture the real you during our time together. Whether shooting on location or in studio, we will not rush your session. Don’t worry if you don’t know how to “pose” – I will give you plenty of guidance in this area. We focus on non-traditional portraiture and tend to steer away stiff poses and formal backgrounds. I love experimenting with funky backgrounds and clothing. I also love candid shots that allow an individual’s real personality to shine through. I am often arranging subjects in such a way that natural expressions or postures are likely to result! This can be a lot of fun! My primary focus is to make my subjects look stunning in their photos – something they’d be proud to show their friends and family.

What should I wear?

Feel free to bring a suitcase of clothes and a box of shoes, accessories and anything else you want in your pictures. I’ll help you mix and match – this is one of my favorite aspects of teen photography – so many fun clothes! We’ll pick out what will work best with the backgrounds, lighting and your coloring. Bring a variety of casual and dressier clothes. Funky hats, scarves, and other accessories are great. Make sure to bring several long sleeve, solid color shirts as they are always photogenic and can be used for layering. Really – anything goes!

Can I bring a friend?

Friends are welcome to join you if you are both doing your photo sessions as part of my “Ticket for Two” session. Otherwise, I would prefer that only those being photographed be present. Parents are always welcome.

How long before I can see the images?

At your session, we will set up an ordering appointment about 2-3 weeks following the session. At this session, we will show you a slideshow of your images set to music. We can then revisit your favorite images and show you what the pictures would look like in various sizes. Your order must be placed at the ordering session. If you need additional time, an online gallery can be created for an additional fee.

Can you burn me a CD of the session photos?

I am more than happy to sell you a CD of the session images with a minimum print order (see pricing page). If there are one or two images you are interested in having digitally, please let me know and I can give you a specific price. All photos remain property of Amy Lynden Photography, and can only be reprinted or used online with permission.

I am open to new ideas, so please feel free to contact me to discuss your thoughts. While I am based in the San Francisco Bay Area, I am willing to travel nationwide.
